Plaster, Estate Sale Items
Description: We wanted to evolve and re-imagine our previous sculpture, Traces. At the time, we were working on a collection of pieces for a collaborative show called Hearth, which explored the symbol and significance of the fireplace as the center and life-blood of a home. We casted items from each home inside of a plaster brick, which made up a hearth. Each brick was marked with the location and date where they were collected. Each serves as a mini archive of forgotten things from the home to which they belonged. Together, the bricks form a collective hearth and community (of sorts).
