Amber Imrie-Situnayake and Adriana Villagran
Wool, collected objects, sticks, & thread
92" x 77" x 57"
Description: During a two-month residency at Elsewhere Studios, I collaborated with Amber Imrie-Situnayake in creating cocoons which represented the homes and businesses of Paonia, CO. Through wet felting techniques, stitching, home-visits, and object collecting we searched to translate the quintessential experience of each location. These cocoons were installed in the upstairs studio at Elsewhere and hung from canopy of woven sticks and twigs collected from around Paonia. The result was an interactive installation that brings into thought the ideas of dwellings, the body, the interior and exterior and the personal and communal.
